East Asian Soccer picks Ten of the Best personalities and players in the 2016 Asian Champions League.
Number 7 – Takuma Asano
Twenty-one year old Takuma Asano is possibly the J-League’s next big export. The youngster took the field in 34 J-League matches in 2015, picking up 9 goals. As well as proving himself a super sub, Asano has shown his ‘big game’ pedigree twice in his burgeoning career.
In the J-League’s Championship Final 2nd Leg, Asano took the field in the 56th minute and snuffed Gamba’s faint hopes of a comeback with his 76th minute header.
This year he scored twice in the AFC’s U23 Championship (doubling as Olympic qualification tournament) Final against Japan’s rivals Korea Republic.
The 2015 J-League Rookie award winner will be expected to help Hiroshima through a tricky group including FC Seoul, Thai guns Buriram United and China’s Shandong Luneng.
