Il Paradiso Scratched For 2020

Il Paradiso - chestnut colt

Four year old northern hemisphere colt Il Paradiso is out of the running for the 2020 Melbourne Cup. Chris Waller’s new acquisition – the horse that suffered the most interference in the 2019 Melbourne Cup photo finish – has strained a tendon, and connections have declared the horse will not race in the 2020 autumn or spring carnivals.

There was an official announcement from Racing NSW today on Twitter before the story reverberated across the world wide web. The US bred colt by Galileo had raced primarily in Ireland before an impressive 3rd to Stradivarius at York, and a fifth behind top 3 year old Logician at Doncaster.

Il Paradiso was second favourite in 2020 Melbourne Cup betting only yesterday when our video of the Adelaide Cup went to air. The chestnut colt was targetting a Sydney Cup or Queen Elizabeth Stakes run during the autumn, but all prior plans have been shelved for the remainder of 2020.
