Loves Only You bound for Cox Plate?

Improving Japanese galloper Loves Only You may be heading to Australia in October for a tilt at the 2021 W.S. Cox Plate.

The 5 year old mare recently captured Hong Kong’s G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2000m at Sha Tin. That win comes off the back of a bumper year to-date having won the G2 Kyoto Kinen (2200m) at home in February before finishing a close 3rd in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic over 2410m at Meydan in the UAE. The third in Dubai really stamped Loves Only You’s quality given the prizemoney on offer and how close she finished to proven Japanese stayer Chrono Genesis and eventual winner Mishriff.

Connections are said to be considering a tilt at either the Breeder’s Cup in the USA on 6th November or Australia’s Cox Plate on 23rd October. Trainer Yahagi, Yoshito said the 5 year old mare by Deep Impact was most likely to return to racing on 27th June in the G1 Takarazuka Kinen (2200m) at Hanshin Racecourse.
