UK galloper Addeybb has arrived in Australia for a title defence of his 2020 Queen Elizabeth Stakes title. The northern hemisphere 8 year old is a $3.50 favourite to win the Queen Elizabeth on 10th April, but he will have an assignment before then, most likely the Ranvet Stakes (20/3/21) at Rosehill.
Just like last year, Addeybb is being accompanied by a stablemate, this time the northern hemisphere 5 year old Favorite Moon (GER). Favorite Moon is nominated for the Sydney Cup on the same day as the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
After taking out the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in 2020 Addeybb went on to record a 2nd and two victories in his UK campaign later in the year. His biggest win was the Group 1 British Champions Middle Distance Stakes. It was a great win the confirmed his class to UK doubters who considered his wins in Sydney to be meaningless as the opposition was supposedly inferior.
Racing fans here in Australia are licking their lips though, at the prospect of another battle between Addeybb and Verry Elleegant the locally trained hope. This time Verry Elleegant is 5 years old and at her peak, while Addeybb is for normal horses past his prime. But is Addeybb normal?
